Conference Hotels for Stylish Events

Some may say that its not possible to find conference hotels that are suitable for stylish events as the stereotypical conference venues can often be bland and too business like.

Paul Welling, Director at the leading conference venue finder, Well Placed Conference argues the point though and suggests there are some very stylish, small upmarket venues that are very good at being conference hotels as well! the three favourites of the moment which prove this point are:

Luton Hoo, Luton is a great venue for impressing international delegates as well as UK staff. Easily accessible off the M1, the modern contemporary accommodation is complimented by the old country house which is the main focus of the estate.

Warren Weir is the purpose built conference centre which offers a self contained setting giving clients total privacy and with modern conference meeting rooms, up to the minute technology and great service your delegates will be impressed. These facilities compliment the rest of the estate though which is very stylish. The spa, golf course and elegant dining dining options means that you don't compromise on style for the sake of being a conference delegate.

Macdonald Hotel Windsor is another favourite at the moment which we are using regularly for our clients. For international delegates flying into Heathrow, rather than choosing a 'steel & glass' airport perimeter conference hotels we suggest taking them a bit further away into Windsor where you will find much more stylish venues.

The Macdonald Hotel in Windsor is a great example of stylish conference hotels, overlooking the castle in the High Street the small entrance misleads you into thinking its not a conference venue at all. The 'Tardis' feel though shows style, elegance and leads into modern conference rooms which offer the all important free wi-fi!  Combining style with modern business facilities isn't easy but the Macdonald Hotel in Windsor seems to have the right blend in our opinion.

In Manchester’s most celebrated building, the historic Free Trade Hall sits the Radisson Edwardian Blu hotel. The stylish spaces create a mood of understated luxury in the city centre, moments from Manchester Central and MICC. Conference Venue News & Updates - June 2012

This month sees a real buzz around the hotel and conference venues industry with the imminent arrival of the Olympics. Many themed packages are being offered and hotel bedrooms are in short supply not just in London but the provinces as well.

New Conference Venues Openings
Renaissance Barcelona
Plans have been approved for a new 600 delegate convention & exhibition centre on Lake Windermere. Constructed by English Lakes Hotels and opposite the Low Wood Hotel it will be the largest business conference venues in the Lake District. Innovative heating systems will use ground source heat pumps in the lake to heat the building. Scheduled opening dates are still to be announced though.

The Renaissance Barcelona, a 209 bedroomed hotel with 7 meeting rooms with 491sqm of space opened last month. Located by the Paseo de Gracia its surrounded by all the cities attractions. Formerly the Diplomat Hotel it has undergone a total transformation and is set to become one of the leading hotel with conference facilities in Barcelona. Moving from Spain to Yorkshire, Lightwater Valley, the theme park set in 175 acres of parkland has launched The Market Square. The park is also a corporate conference venues with space for 200 delegates and exhibitions across 720 sqm of floor space. The Market Square is at the entrance to the park and is ideal for drinks receptions and product launches for up to 20 delegates.

Exeter has another new hotel this month as the Magdalen Chapter Hotel opened its doors. The 19th century building has been restored to become a contemporary 59 bedroom hotel and the 'potting shed' in the grounds is now a great and unusual space for meetings & private dinners.

Refurbishment News
Waldorf Hilton London
Crowne Plaza London City , a leading conference venue in London has completed the refurbishment of all its conference meeting rooms. The 203 room hotel now boats 5 meeting rooms with a capacity for more than 200 guests and there is a few boardrooms that cater for the smaller formal meetings. All the meeting rooms are equipped with LCD flat screen TV's and wi-fi access.

Staying in London and the Waldorf Hilton has completed the £800,000 refurbishment of its Aldelphi Suite, one of the largest business conference venues in the capital. Champagne elegance and art deco twists is the theme of this 1920's landmark hotel which is renowned for its Palm Court and 7 other meeting rooms. 288 bedrooms completes the facilities of this freshly restored venue. No. 11 Cavendish Square in London has completed the £250,000 face lift of its Garden Room which can accommodate 100 guests for a reception or 24 boardroom style. This new space compliments the existing facilities which include a contemporary Burdett Suite for 240 delegates.

Wyboston Lakes, conference & training centre in Bedfordshire is adding a new spa facility. Due to open in September this year it will feature 11 therapy rooms, water beds and relaxation beds and will be available to hotel guests across the 2 conference venues on the resort.
